A Day out in Bath - Part Three

Here we are the final installment of my adventures in Bath. Looking back I can hardly believe that I managed to cram so much in to one day. Don't you just love days like that.
My final destination of the day was Prior Park, a little further on up the hill from the cemetery. This shot is taken from the very top, looking down over the park and then out over Bath and to the hills beyond.
The park is a landscape garden created between 1734 and 1764. The National Trust have recently been doing a lot of work particularly at the top of the Park restoring the Grotto and this wilderness area near the Serpentine Lake. During my day in Bath the weather was really changeable, but even though it was really cold I was lucky enough to have the sunshine through my whole visit to the Park. I love how the sunlight was reflected on the underside of Sham Bridge (which you can see in full above) and also how the wind was making the water ripple. You can take a little detour from the main paths around the park, up on to the hillside where you get magnificent views over Bath. This picture really doesn't do it justice, but I still thought I'd post it to give you an idea. The main feature of the garden is this beautiful Palladian Bridge.

Again these pictures don't really do it justice. It's very grand and dominates the garden no matter where you are viewing it from.
And possibly the best part of the visit was that apart from a couple of beautiful swans I had the Park to myself that day. I guess that makes me the ugly ducking, lol.

My daughter went to school at Prior Park so I spent many a day looking at the fantastic view, watching the seasons change! I agree Bath is beautiful and also very inspirational!
