Not many words on this post just a few pictures. I went to the Royal International Airshow at Fairford a couple of months ago. I uploaded these pictures a while back and then forgot to actually post them. So here they are, just a few snapshots from a lovely day out.
The ramblings of an unremarkable, ordinary girl trying to make the best of life in her little corner of the world

Bath
Just had to tell you about a wonderful day spent in the lovely city of Bath a couple of weekends ago. It started out as a simple expedition to pick up some embroidery thread (which actually didn't happen in the end as they didn't have what I needed) but it was such a lovely day we ended up wandering round and didn't get back until evening.
Part of the reason we stayed so long is we ended up on Safari, the city is scattered with lion statues all decorated by different artists or groups. There are 100 or so to see altogether and we ended up hunting out about half of them.
This next one was called Dave so of course the real Dave was made to assume the pose, I'll leave you to decide who is the most handsome, lol.
In my pursuit of capturing a feet picture I almost managed to push this poor lion down the hill, but hey not my fault the platform was on wheels with no brakes :)
All the lion hunting was quite exhausting but luckily we were able to refuel on amazing food and lovely wine at a fabulous South American themed restaurant that we love.
And for dessert which picked up some delicious chilli chocolate at the Italian market they had going, naughty but very nice!

Birmingham By Day
Back a few weeks ago I posted about I trip I took to Birmingham. I shared my trip to the stitch show at the NEC and a whistle stop tour round Birmingham at night. Here are a few snaps from Birmingham by day.

Here is that Iconic Bullring building in the day light along with a shot of the lovely fountain that stands nearby. I just love all the square shapes.
The Bullring was hosting a CSI exhibition when I visited. I'm a huge fan of the show so I couldn't resist going in and trying my hand at solving a crime.
You got to choose from several scenarios, and I opted to try and solve the mystery of the body in the desert.
If I'm honest it wasn't very taxing and the crime was pretty easily solved, but I had fun none the less wandering round the exhibit hunting for clues and getting lab results :)
I went to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery to see some items from the Staffordshire Hoard on display, which was fabulous, but no pictures allowed of that exhibition. There is plenty for the textile enthusiast to see though, including some fabulous cross stitch designs from China (not easy to take pictures of though).

Marlborough
I've been a bit tardy on the blogging front recently. Have been having a bit of a funny week and not sleeping properly again, this has left me with a distinct lack of energy and enthusiasm which is really starting to annoy me. So many things I want to do, so many ideas and plans but no get up and go to put them in place, lol.
Just so my blog doesn't curl up and die I thought I'd do a quick post about a fabulous day I spent in Marlborough a few weeks ago. Don't go to Marlborough much but it's a lovely little town, Took this quick snap down the river from a bridge on which I lost several games of pooh sticks!! :)
The high street has a few hidden alleyways with quirky little shops which are fabulous for a wander round. You may well ask what does one wear when wandering round quaint and cobbled streets
Why red shoes of course, is there anything more perfect than running round on a lazy Sunday in the sunshine pretending you are Dorothy, lol :)
Playing pretend can make you hungry though, but what better excuse to tuck in to a banana split. Naughty but nice! Haven't had one of these for ages, but I was transported straight back to childhood with the first spoonful, yum.
And after all the messing around we get to the main reason for the visit, which was to watch some fabulous live music....
... the perfect excuse to kick off the red shoes, sit back and get lost in the magic of music.

Uffington
In my last post I mentioned the walk in the sunshine that I took, so I figured I should share with you a few snaps I took along the way.
Visited the beautiful chalk down landscape around Uffington which forms part of the Ridgeway. It really is a fantastic landscape steeped in ancient history. There is a wonderful white horse carved in to the hill side. It's difficult to get a full view of it though. This is the best shot I managed, lol.
To see a proper view of the horse take a look here. Standing on top of the horse on a beautiful blue skies day the view is amazing. In this next shot, you can see the eye and ear of the horse looking down over dragon hill and out over the landscape beyond.
On top of the hill you can also explore the ramparts of Uffington castle an iron age hill fort. My picture of the ramparts doesn't really show them in their full grandeur but I had to get a shot of the bit that was covered in sheep :)
There were hundreds of cute sheep grazing the hill on the day we visited. It was fun to pretend I was a shepherdess tending her flock in the magnificent sunshine for a while :) Also reminded me that I must get on and work on my sheep sampler too.
This little expedition took place the other day on an afternoon off work. We did this walk which as well as exploring white horse hill took in some beautiful countryside, a wonderful village full of thatched roof cottages, and the magical Waylands Smithy long barrow (one of my favourite places). I'll tell you a bit more about that part of the walk another time. For now here is a quick peek at one of the beautiful country lanes that we strolled down.

A Day out in Bath - Part Three
Here we are the final installment of my adventures in Bath. Looking back I can hardly believe that I managed to cram so much in to one day. Don't you just love days like that.
My final destination of the day was Prior Park, a little further on up the hill from the cemetery. This shot is taken from the very top, looking down over the park and then out over Bath and to the hills beyond.
The park is a landscape garden created between 1734 and 1764. The National Trust have recently been doing a lot of work particularly at the top of the Park restoring the Grotto and this wilderness area near the Serpentine Lake.
During my day in Bath the weather was really changeable, but even though it was really cold I was lucky enough to have the sunshine through my whole visit to the Park.
I love how the sunlight was reflected on the underside of Sham Bridge (which you can see in full above) and also how the wind was making the water ripple.
You can take a little detour from the main paths around the park, up on to the hillside where you get magnificent views over Bath. This picture really doesn't do it justice, but I still thought I'd post it to give you an idea.
The main feature of the garden is this beautiful Palladian Bridge.
