Bloggers Pillow Party

Have you heard about the Bloggers Pillow Party yet?
Blogger's Pillow Party

Last month I looked on at all of the wonderful pillows that were being posted about in blogland and thought that I would love to join in the fun in February. So here is my contribution to the party. If you have been reading my blog for a while you will have seen this one before, but that's not against the rules of the party, as long as your pillow has been made in the last couple of months it's invited :)

For those of you who haven't seen this before here's the story.

Five years ago, I lost my wonderful Mum to Breast Cancer. This is a picture of my Mum and Dad with nephew Tyler about a year before she passed away.My Mum was a stitcher too, it's where I got the bug from! She loved her cross stitch. When she passed away Dad gave me all of her stitching things, including a mountain of unfinished projects. I knew that I would finish them for Mum but it took me a good few years before I could pick up her projects without feeling overwhelming sadness. The grief is still in me but of course as time passes I have started to focus on all the good memories and not let the tears over take me.

One of the first UFO's that I picked up was this one.It took me a little while to finish it. I knew that she must have meant it for her Aunt - my Great Aunt - who until recently has always kept budgies at pets. At the end of last year I decided to finish this up in to a pillow for her.
So I pulled out a bunch of fabrics that matched up with the colours in the birds and made the cross stitch the centre piece in a pillow for Aunt Eileen.I also hand stitched a label....
and the pillow was done. My Aunt loved it and it will be treasured......
What more could you want for a gift that has been made and given with love.

I love your pillow, and the story behind it makes it even more special.

Your stitching is beautiful. What a lovely pillow and an even lovelier back story.

Hello! You have made adorable pillow! Most important is the story behind it! I have lost my mother, too and every craft I have from her is a treasure! You have chosen really beautiful fabrics and with tiny patches they make beautiful frame for the undulates!
Sunny wishes from Crete! Teje

I have no doubt your mom is still interested in everything you do. They still love us, even after they leave this world. She knows you finished it!

WHAT a beautiful treasure! Your stitching is wonderful, and the sentiment behind the pillow is just priceless. Thanks for sharing your story.

It's beautiful and so is the sentiment behind it. What a lovely gift to give yourself (the making) and to give your aunt from both of you. Thanks for joining in!
