My Something Beginning with S cards are another set from my postcard swaps that I was running late with for artsnthemail.
As I've been doing quite a lot of hand stitching lately I thought I'd do something simple and on the machine. I remembered a while back seeing this lovely postcard on Vicki's blog so decided to steal the idea. I've simplified a bit and voila my cards are done.
I tried to vary things a little bit to see what the effects would be so for this first card I tried to use strips which mostly contained the colour dots.
For the second I used strips with mainly text showing.
Then I tried a mix of both.
Finally I tried using some strips that were not totally filled therefore leaving some blank spaces on the cards.
I think this last one has turned out to be my favourite, but it was fun to experiment with these pieces which would normally go in the bin, the ultimate recycling experience. Thanks for the inspiration Vicki!

Great cards - I save interesting selvedges too!! Thanks also for the link to Vicki's card - another great use of fabric otherwise discarded :)
Those are great! I think my favorite is the one with the green edges - dots and words.
I never save the edges from the fabric. But they sure look great in your cards.
The postcards are great! I just tossed some of those edges -- now I guess I should've saved 'em!
Mmmm.... lovely selvedges - may have to borrow that idea!
great selvage cards! I can't imagine doing a whole quilt using selvages, but a card now htat's a different story :-)

I've used selvedges for making postcards in one swap last year and it's on my blog. I quite often use a small strip of selvedge to separate the message from the address on the back. I've got quite a collection because friends have seen that I've used but I have more than I can use now!
That's a genius idea! I really like the last card too with space for something else, perhaps.
