Stuff

Wow this is my 250th post can you believe it. I think this calls for a celebration. Everyone who leaves a comment on this post in the next couple of days will be entered into a draw and the first name out of the hat will win a fiber creation. I don't know what it will be yet but hopefully the surprise will all be part of the fun.

I haven't been very creative again the last few days, I have decided that I need to have one giant clear out at home. My stuff is starting to take over every room in the house and I just can't find things when I want them. This is an example of what pretty much every surface in my house looks like at the moment.Drastic times call for drastic measures so over the next few weeks I am going to have a massive sort out and will try and get rid of some stuff on ebay. I have about 6 totes full of fabric at the moment which is probably more than I will ever use so yes even some of the fabric must go. Even if I get rid of half my stuff I've no doubt there will still be plenty littering the place, lol!

I have made one thing today though and that is a card for my friend and work colleague Yvonne. I used to do a lot of card making but not so much recently, however as Yvonne does card making herself someone suggested that as she is retiring soon she would probably appreciate a hand made card more than a bought one. Here's what I came up with, hope she likes it.It took my ages to make but mostly because one of my cats, Hector, is in a fussy mood tonight and kept walking all over everything to try and get some attention. Even when I had the camera out he was trying to make sure I wasn't looking at anything but him.

Congratulations on the big milestone! Yvonne is twice lucky - she gets to retire and has received the most beautiful card to mark the occasion!

You will, of course, let us know before you put things up on eBay?

So we get a head start?...*S*

Beautiful card.

I've just been doing the same thing with my stuff. Its taken me since Xmas to do. But I'm so glad I did. Now when I want anything I can find it straight away. I had every intention of throwing/giving/selling bits too, but when it came down to it I couldn't - you never know when things might come in handy. Bet you don't either :))

I am impressed ... I wish I could try and reduce my stash of fabrics ....I have been good and stopped buying it but then I get friends coming along to quilt or embroidery or lace group who have also had a "clear out" and I see some material I just have to have ... it's a worry!.. as they say here in Aus! Oh and your card is faab!:-D

If all your worksurfaces look like the picture I think you do need to do some organising and stash reduction!!! I hope Hector will supervise and make sure you don't dispose of any cat fabric :)

Love the card you made - I don't think you ever showed us the samples you were working up for your sister's wedding invites. How did that go?

I'd love a piece of your art work so please count me in to your draw. I would also suggest - don't jsut post your stash on Ebay - put some on your blog - it could be a good way to get rid too!! lv ANNA

I echo Anna's comment that offering your stash on your blog might be a good way to get rid of some of it - I'm sure we all need more fabric; I know I do. Or not, but that won't necessarily stop me...

Thanks for your comment about my swap quilt by the way - I have put a better picture of it up now, one of the quality the quilt deserves.

I'm glad it isn't just me who's stuff has a life of it's only, mine is gradually working it's way along the landing. Don't whatever you do throw anything out if you can help it, because you can bet in a few days or weeks you will be looking for whatever it because it will be just right for a project.

Hey Angela, the card is great but I have to say Hector is way cuter.

Are we going to tempt you to doing a PC for the Alz project over on FGM???

Come on you know you wanna :0)

I like the card and hope your friend will like it too. Good luck with the sorting out - it is so hard to part with fabric and other bits as it's so easy to think it may come in useful. Be sure that you think "ruthless"! It's the only way (I'm one to talk my spare bedroom/workroom is in a bit of a state at present, I've got to have a blitz too!)
