Super Lucky Me

Just a quick one today to tell you about some lovely fabric that I recent won on a blog giveaway. That is 2 wins in as many weeks, I must be on a lucky streak. Maybe I should go and buy a lottery ticket!

This lot of gorgeous hand dyed fabrics is from Maggie. The colours are just beautiful. I don't have a plan for them yet but I know the perfect project will present itself soon.

At last a little bit of stitching...

Only a little bit though...... while I was with family at the weekend I took a few purple scraps to play with and ended up with this little granny flower pincushion
Fabrics are different on each side.
I've been thinking about starting up a little Etsy shop or similar. Buying threads, fabrics and books for my City and Guilds is costing a bit more than I expected, and I'm always making stuff that just ends up sitting round the house so I thought may be this could be a way of getting a few extra pennies to put back in to the course. I know there are lots of wonderfully creative people out there and my stuff would be pretty basic compared to some so might not sell but every little helps right and anything would be a happy bonus. Maybe this little cushion will be among the first things in the shop. Anyone out there already on Etsy and have any good advice?

Anyway back to the purple scraps, these haven't been stitched yet but I have all the squares cut for my purple chequerboard blocks so hopefully that will get done this week in time for scrappy Saturday. And finally I just had to show you this lovely fabric goodness. I'm so excited to have won a giveaway on Vicki's blog recently. Just look at all this wonderful fabric. I'm so lucky.Good quality quilting cotton is always so expensive here in the UK so it's a real treat for me to receive all this. Lots of gorgeous orangeness too my favourite. I'm thrilled with the parcel. Thanks so much Vicki!

Falling in Love Again ...

...... with fabric.

Well I guess strictly speaking I've never really been out of love, but I have been having a good sort out of my fabric bins recently and have come across so many lovely fabrics that I'd forgotten I had.

I'm excited to see which ones will get used in new projects over the coming months!

Old Habits

Had to pop out and run a couple of errands in town yesterday. Although yesterday I told you all that my goal in the coming weeks is to declutter I couldn't resist a little bit of shopping. I guess old habits die hard!

I used to buy lots of magazine but have gotten out of the habit this last year or so while the creative urge just wasn't with me. While that is probably a good thing as money is in short supply at the moment, I just couldn't resist this one as I fell in love with the image on the free stamp. You can't see it too clearly but its a cute bird in a heart. I also popped in to the local fabric shop. It opened up sometime last year I think but I haven't been in in ages and it was nice to see how much the range of fabrics available has expanded. I bought some hessian, cotton, raw silk and muslin. I'm feeling to urge to do some dyeing so apart from the hessian these are destined to get a splash of colour at some point in the not too distant future.

Crazy Cats

Ok so you are probably getting sick of seeing these kitty cards by now, but I love making them so there may even be a few more to come! After my recent private trade with Andrea, Andrea said how much her young son really liked the cards. So needing no further excuse I thought I'd make him one all of his own. This time I used some buttons to embellish as I thought they'd be a bit less girly than sequins, and after sequins buttons are my favourite embellishments! I also got my return package from Andrea from our trade. Look at these wonderful fabrics.
And also in the package was this cute box and pen. I have a collection of cat buttons, beads and trimmings so this great box will be a perfect home for them. Thanks for a great trade Andrea!

Cat Fabric

I have my Dad and sister coming up to see me for the day today so there won't be much time for creating or blogging but I promised to share a picture with Terri, a fellow cat fabric enthusiast, which reveals the true extent of my obsession. So here is is my cat fabric collection not the greatest picture as I just emptied it out on my (unmade, can't believe I'm showing that have I no shame!) bed to take a quick snap before the gang get here. I haven't counted them lately but I know I have over 100 different prints!

Yes that is a real life cat butt in the background. Pip was peeking out of the window watching the rain. As I speak he's now happily rolling around in all the fabric ensure that it is now textured with cat hair so I have to wash anything now before I use it (groan!)
