Snuggly Square progress

I'm making reasonable progress on the baby blanket.  I have 96 squares to make, they are only 2.5 inches so they don't take too long to come together.  I've made more since this picture was taken so am about half way through I think.  Looking at the pile in this picture its pretty clear that there are going to be millions of ends to sew in ....... but hey it's all part of the fun :)

It occurred to me while writing this that no matter what the craft there is generally something that has to be done to get a project finished that I find less appealing than the rest, with crochet it's sewing in the ends, with cross stitch I get a bit bored if there is back stitching to do at the end, with knitting it's the sewing up at the end, and with quilting it's the ironing of all the seams.  But they are all things that I have to be endured in order to get the job done.

Are there any parts of your craft/handmade hobby/creative pursuit that you don't enjoy?  Please tell me I'm not alone .....

Hehe. You are absolutely not alone. I too hate having to sewing in the ends of my knitting and sewing up the seams. I don't quilt but I have done some dress making and I have regretted greatly not taking the proper time to press everything right. I don't mind back stitching with my cross stitching too much. However with card making it can be the initial layout specially when not matter what I try the card just won't come together for me.

There is always a lesscliked step. For me it is binding and sewing borders on quilts. I don't like sewing long seams for some reason.

When I was younger, I used to do all the knitting and pay a friend to sew them up, lol. Can't afford that now. With quilting, I don't mind doing the tops, it's getting them quilted and finished I find hard. Silly really, when you can't use it until those bits are done

Sewing in the ends is always a chore, but I kind of agree with Jane! I love putting the top of a quilt together but actually layering it and quilting it and binding it......maybe I should find something else to do instead of patchwork and quilting (no not really I'm obsessed!)

I'm with you on the backstitching front, so to speak. Hence my fondness of late for more naive, country patterns, with no backstitching. The other solution is to do it a bit at a time as you go along - not quite so bad that way...
