Birthday Celebrations

My oldest nephew Tyler was 10 this last Sunday so I went and spent a lovely family weekend back in my home town. On Saturday we took Tyler and his cousin to the movies, here they are looking geeky in their 3D glasses.This is the birthday boy unwrapping one of his pressies on Sunday morning (we were woken up by my sister singing a very out of tune rendition of Happy Birthday, my ears are still ringing!!)I have two nephews, the other just turned one in December. Here are the two brothers messing around in town on a slideAll the excitement got a bit too much for Kai thoughIt's always pretty manic whenever I get to visit family, running around trying to make visits to as many loved ones as possible as I don't get to see them very often. I had an unexpected treat though when one of my Aunts gifted me some fabric that she no longer has use for.It's all been washed and ironed and added to the fabric bins, it'll be fun to see what projects they will find use in.

Weekend snapshots

Last weekend I went back to my home town to help my sister and her family move house. Travelling around by road seems to be more and more of a chore these days, everywhere you go there are roadworks slowing things down.

Never mind the journey is always worth it when there is family waiting to say hello to you at the end.

The newest member of the family, Kai is 3 months old now, he's very cute. His personality is definitely starting to come through.

He's very wise, always looking around taking things in. Here he is in granddad's car. I figured at 3 months it was about time he had his first driving lesson :)

He's looking slightly perplexed here as we try out some hair on him for size!

Moving day was hard work but we got there. I like this shot just because .. well I'm not sure.. I like the light, I like the empty room with the orange radiator and I like that three generations of the family are here, my dad, sister and nephew Kai hidden in the buggy. This is my other nephew and Kai's older brother, Tyler. He's 9 and always on the go, in an effort to keep him amused and out of my hair for 5 minutes I gave him my camera and told him to go take pictures around the house.

So what was the first thing he thought of, well to take a picture of the inside of his mouth of course! I guess the weird gene runs in the family.

Farmyard Mobile

I'm pleased to say that I managed to get my stitching finished for baby Kai before my trip to see him last weekend.He's just over a month old now and I can't believe how much he's grown in the couple of weeks since I saw him last! The picture isn't great as it was a really grey day and as I finished it on the day I was leaving I didn't have time to wait for better light :) Stitching all the cute animals made me smile, I think the cows turned out to be my favourites.

Meet Kai

I'm very excited to introduce a new edition to our family. This is my nephew, Kai. He was born on 8th December, and what a little darling he is. In this picture he is being swallowed up by one of the beanbags I have in my living room!!

Of course having a new edition is the perfect excuse to start a new stitching project. So I'm busy with needle and thread. Am hoping to get the project done by the middle of January which is when I will be seeing them next. Here is a sneak peek.

Philip and Clare's wedding

It's been a while so I thought I'd drop by with an update on the wedding sampler and a few pictures from the day itself.

Well Phil and Clare are back from honeymoon today and the present still isn't finished. I've had a busy few weeks and haven't found much time for stitching but it's getting there and I'm confident that it won't be long until I'm crossing the finishing line on this one. Here is the progress so far.
I have just a couple more bands to go and it will be ready to go to the framer.

I don't often show pictures of me as I'm not very photogenic but what the hell here is one of me and my lovely Nan.And of course in the interests of keeping up the recent foot theme, here are the shoes that kept me bopping all night on the dance floor.

The Wedding

I'm just popping in for a quick post. I'm feeling totally exhausted but super happy for my little sis Emily who got married yesterday. Here she is looking totally stunning.
I'm super proud of her as she was responsible for the majority of the organisation and she did it all on a limited budget. I know everyone had a great day.

I'm also super proud of my Mark who was the principal photographer on the day. His first wedding so it was extra nerve wracking for him, I know there are things that he would liked to have done differently but hindsight is a wonderful thing. I think overall he's done a great job and I'm sure the happy couple will be pleased with their wedding album.

What happened to the last two years?

Today it's been two years since we said goodbye to Mum. I still miss her so much and I can't believe how time has flown since that last day. This us all on our last family holiday in 2004, I'm so grateful that we had this time.

Back to work today and a trip to the movies to see I Am Legend (overall a disappointing movie the start promised a lot but the ending was a total let down). I still managed to squeeze in a walk and some creating, both in my lunch break.

I took a walk round the block from the office where I work, there isn't too much to see but I loved these adorable flowers poking from one of the hedgerows. My knowledge of British wildlife really is appalling though so I have no idea what they are, I really need to do something about that. On the creative front I worked some more on the sock knitting that I started a while back. I don't think I've actually posted a photo of this at all yet. I certainly didn't do all of this today for anyone who might think I've suddenly turned into a super knitter! I only managed to add a few rows but still it was something. I'm not sure how far I'm going to get with this, so far I'm doing all the easy stuff but in another few rows and I have to start the heel shaping. I'm a virgin sock knitter and I'm not really sure that I understand what I have to do from the pattern but I'll just bumble along and see what happens, watch this space as they say.....
