Self

Life is a funny thing is it not?  People, places, objects all constantly wander in and out of our lives bringing with them happiness, joy, love, surprise, sorrow, tears, but the one thing that remains constant is self.  It suddenly struck me that the one thing that will remain with me for all of my life is me.  An obvious thing I know but sometimes in the turmoil of life it's something that can easily become forgotten.

So 2012 is the year that I have decided I will take better care of myself.  I will strive to live in a way that I think is meaningful, I will do the things that bring me joy and happiness.  I will make time for family and friends, I will spend as much time as I can outside enjoying fresh air and all of the wonders that mother nature brings, I will buy local produce as much as I can and I will support the handmade community.  I will find joy and laughter in everyday and I will not let the things that I can't change worry me.  I will be kind to others even when they don't treat me in the same way.

So here's to a brand new me for 2012

If you leave me a comment and a way to get in touch with you, at some point in 2012 I'll send a little surprise your way.

Good for you. It took illness and early retirement to bring those things home to me and I now realise that I need to look after myself so that I can look after other people.

Some really good ideas there - I try and live by "don't worry until you have to" and it mostly works. Sometimes life does drag you down but at least we're here and can make of it what we will. Hope everything is working out for you now - how to see lots of cross stitch soon - lol !

Yes, I think that's a great plan and you deserve some "you" time for a change! I already have my gift and it's right here beside me! It's my cross stitched flag heart you gave me in September!

My motto is live today to the fullest, because no one is guaranteed tomorrow. Also remember, you woke up today, so that is a start to a great day, what you do with it, is your choice. I should have lost my life when I was 27 in a car wreck, but I am still here at the age of 43, still living life to the fullest. I am glad you see it this way too.

Yay, your internet is up and running! Amen to the "go outdoors and enjoy nature" promise to yourself. I think just walking the earth is the most healthy thing, physically and emotionally, that we can do for ourselves. Hope 2012 is your best year ever!

I went through a similar process a few years ago. In my case, my family shrank to me and my boys. They're my prority and everyone else will have to fit in.
Enjoy your year

So true and we often forget ourselves in life's equation.

Good luck for 2012 :)

Good Luck Angela - I agree - it took me ages to realise that I had stopped treating myself fairly. A couple of us hope to set up a new textile group in the area if you fancy joining I will keep you informed.

I like the new look on the blog. I like your new 'self' image. They sound like good plans for you and I hope they bring you the contentment that you deserve.

Happy New Year! Happy New You!

To thine ownself be true is my motto Angela.
And with your choices that you have made for the future I can see you are heading that way as well.
Take care and be happy.
