A new project

You might remember that last week I showed you my finished crochet blanket. One of the great things about finishing something is that I can now give myself permission to work on something new :)

I already had in mind to work on a new crochet project but hadn't quite decided what it would be.  All I knew is that I wanted it to be something to help me reduce this huge pile of yarn that I have hanging around.
A while back I subscribed to a partwork magazine and this is all the yarn that came free with it.  The idea was to make a blanket and teach yourself various crochet techniques along the way....well of course I never did get round to it, and realising that I never would make the blanket that this was intended for I figured I should make use of it rather than having it hanging around forever.

While I was musing over what I might make a friend of mine happened to comment on a picture of the starburst blanket that I put up on my facbook page.  This friend is due to have a baby in a couple of months and tongue in cheek asked if I had time could I make her a baby blanket.  Well what a great idea for my next project I thought.
I know she's having a boy so I pulled out some of the blues and found this cute pattern that I'd pulled from a magazine a while ago.  She doesn't read my blog so hopefully I can get this done in time and she'll like the surprise.

I'm also still working on my teacup cross stitch but I will post an update on that another time, who knows maybe it'll even be finished by the time I get to it......here's hoping :)

It'll make good use of the yarn and be a lovely gift. I'm just using the last of that yarn too. I got quite a lot out of it too, the blanket, a granny square baby blanket, and there was still some leftover, lol

I'm drooling just looking at that pile of yarn.....! Such a lovely blend of colours - scrummy!! Looking forward to seeing the blanket - hope you'll show us progress-pictures?

In the meantime, it's been lovely getting to know you and your blog via Vicki's GYB party - I hope you don't mind but I've decided to share and award with you here. Please feel free to accept or decline as you choose - I know these things can be a bit time-consuming! (I 'altered' my participation for that reason) ;-p

Hi Angela,
Just been reviewing all your recent posts and I see that it's all change for you and lots of positive things happening. So first of all I wanted to say this baby blanket will be gorgeous when it's done and I'm sure your friend will be thrilled. Secondly, good luck with the flat move, the new relationship and anything else. Are you in the same job...?
Have a fab 2013!
