Katharine was a great teacher and the class was very enjoyable. I know some of you might be thinking why on earth would I be taking a postcard class but really I was attracted to the lovely samples that were displayed in the shop advertising the class. I'm not particularly good when it come to using bold blocks of colour with abstract shape and line which is what I really wanted to take the class for.
Katharine had some great samples to share at the class so there was plenty of inspiration to be had. I decided to steer away from postcards and instead spent the day making my first mini art quilt. Here it is.
Not bad for a first attempt. It's about 13" x 13" It was great fun choosing all the bright fabrics and trying to match them all up together, and then usging lots of stitching variation to quilt the piece at the end.
Katharine has a book coming out later in the year dedicate to her mini art quilts and postcards and I was lucky enough to get a sneak preview of some of the work that will be going into it. Hopefully she will keep in touch and let me know just as soon as it is published!

I didn't know you were apprehensive about using bold color in your work. I hope the class has helped. I'm so glad your dad's news was good.

I was lucky enough to do a course with Katharine a couple of years ago. She has such a great eye for colour doesn't she. The new book sounds really interesting.
